Oglebay Norton Co. recently announced the appointment of Michael D. Lundin as president and chief operating officer. Lundin was promoted from the position of president, Great Lakes Minerals segment, and succeeds John N. Lauer. Lundin will have overall responsibility for the operations of the company's reporting segments and will report directly to Lauer, who continues to serve as chairman and chief executive officer.
Lauer said, "The appointment of Michael Lundin to the position of president and chief operating officer reflects his strong minerals operational experience. Michael was largely responsible for the profitable growth of Michigan Limestone Operations over the last 10 years. He is a clear strategic thinker and results-oriented manager. Michael will lead the previously announced restructuring efforts within our operating segments on a company wide basis. He is an outstanding leader and has the vision to lead the profitable growth of the Oglebay Norton Company."
