According to industry experts, Texas has been chosen for SPI 2011 because of the state’s tremendous solar resource growth potential. In fact, Texas has been ranked first in the U.S. for solar resource potential by the State Energy Conservation Office (SECO). SPI will convene October 17-20, 2011.
A Comprehensive Exhibition
Nearly 24,000 industry professionals from 125 countries are expected to attend the comprehensive SPI exhibition. Manufacturers, distributors, engineering firms, installers, policymakers, architects, and investors will gather in Dallas to learn about new products, explore potential solutions and identify business opportunities.The convention center exhibit space consists of more than one million square feet and will accommodate nearly 1200 exhibition booths in this year’s show. Exhibitors from all areas of the industry will be divided into focus zones according to product type. Companies will also have the option to show their products in the natural sunlight in an outdoor exhibit area.
Workshops and Sessions
Six tracks have been established to split up the conference workshops and concurrent sessions by topic. These topics will include finance, integration, markets, policy, system design and technology. The pre- and post-conference workshops will provide practical hands-on exercises for industry newcomers and experienced professionals. The concurrent sessions will focus on financial strategies, new industry technology and specific market opportunities in Texas. More concentrated discussions will take place during the Solar Idea Swaps session, which will feature focused, interactive conversations facilitated by industry experts.Several general sessions have also been organized for SPI 2011. The opening general session will feature a special one-on-one interview between retired NBA stars Earvin “Magic” Johnson and Steve Kerr to highlight Johnson’s brand-building expertise as the chairman and CEO of his company, Magic Johnson Enterprises. Executives from the utilities sector will host the Utilities Panel Discussion to address opportunities and challenges in that particular area. In addition, New York Times bestselling author and motivational speaker Marcus Buckingham will be featured at the closing general session on the last day of the conference.
