The OpenNet-1000 data acquisition unit from OpenNet Instruments, LLC serves as a web and e-mail server, communicating via e-mail Intranet or Internet without the need for a PC. The device combines both data acquisition and control with integrated computer network, or Internet, services to become a unique networked or web-ready data acquisition "mini-server." "You no longer need a PC to implement data acquisition and receive acquired data across a computer network or the Internet. That is the basis of our technology," said David Baird, COO. "It is simple and easy to use, user application development is effortless, and the acquired data is application ready. The PC is now an optional component and can be eliminated completely by a cell phone or other device receiving e-mail alarms and data updates."
