Labatt Brewing Co. Limited and Latrobe Brewing Co. have entered into a long-term agreement with Owens-Brockway Glass Container, Inc., a unit of Owens-Illinois, Inc. The agreement provides for 100% supply of all glass bottles used in packaging at Labatt's nine brewery locations in North America, including for the first time the Latrobe Brewing Co. in Latrobe, Pa., which produces the Rolling Rock and Rock Light brands. Owens-Illinois has been supplying bottles for Labatt's eight breweries in Canada for the past eight years. The new agreement, which was effective January 1, 2003, makes Latrobe Brewing the largest single customer of Owens-Illinois' bottle manufacturing plant in Brockway, Pa. That facility reopened in April 2002 after having been closed since December 2000. The Brockway plant was chosen as the supplier for Rolling Rock because of its proximity to Latrobe (about 90 miles), its production capacity and machining capabilities, and its skilled workforce.
