As construction and remodeling continues to increase in the U.S. and in key markets around the world, Owens Corning recently announced plans for two new manufacturing plants in China to produce shingles and insulation. The new shingle plant, which is being constructed in East China and will open at the end of the year, is the first Owens Corning shingle plant in China and the first Chinese facility to manufacture international standard glass fiber asphalt shingle products. In addition, the company began construction on a new fiber glass insulation facility in Tianjin, China. The facility, which is expected to be in operation by the end of the third quarter of 2004, will produce insulation products for commercial, industrial and residential construction markets.
