Owens-Illinois Empowers Affiliates To Add Web Content

Owens-Illinois has selected Interwoven TeamSite software for its content management needs. TeamSite's open-architecture will allow Owens-Illinois to manage its content and leverage all existing technologies such as Microsoft IIS, FileNet and eRoom. In addition, the Interwoven solution will also make it easier to share content among Owens-Illinois eBusiness applications. "With the amount of content being contributed from around the world, it was critical for Owens-Illinois to select a content management solution that allowed for many different content creation tools and content delivery systems," said Earl Newsome, vice president and CIO of Owens- Illinois. "Interwoven TeamSite was the only solution that allowed Owens-Illinois total flexibility with our current applications."

Owens-Illinois will create a portal for its affiliates where a consistent look and feel will be maintained around the globe with the use of TeamSite. Affiliates will be able to add and update their own content to the portal, without the involvement of the Owens-Illinois web team. TeamSite's open, ease-of-use functionality allows technical and non-technical staff to contribute content and to use their preferred creation tools such as Macromedia Dreamweaver and Microsoft Word.
