Plum Tree Pottery

One ceramic artist's Michigan studio has much to offer visitors.

Residents of southeast Michigan don’t have to look far to find the perfect last-minute Christmas gift. Plum Tree Pottery in Farmington Hills is a popular place to shop and explore a wide variety of pottery pieces. John Glick, the owner, creates many of the pieces himself; there is also an artist-in-residence who assists with running the studio, showroom, and the events that take place at the pottery every month.

In addition to crafting original pottery pieces, Glick fashions his own tools and equipment to help him bring his visions to life. He regularly uses welding and woodworking instruments to make whatever he needs. In an article published in the Farmington-Farmington Hills Patch, Glick says, “If I didn’t have the ability to make custom tools, my imagination would be limited by my instruments."

Items can be purchased at Plum Tree Pottery, located at 30435 West Ten Mile Road, Farmington Hills, Mich., or online at www.plumtreepottery.com. The showroom is open Wednesday through Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Items for sale include vases, stoneware, dinnerware, and much more. For more information, stop in or call (248) 476-4875.
