Porsalina (Arabian Co. for Ceramics-Porsalina), Saudi Arabia’s second-largest ceramic sanitaryware producer, recently started up a mechanized Sacmi BCO066 casting bench for one-piece WC bowls. The bowls comprise a WC and tank cast together as a single 35-kg ceramic piece.
Featuring a dryer that can dry 66 plaster molds, the BCO066 bench allows two castings per day. Two RWD407 ceramic piece chamber dryers have also been operative for several months. Each dryer can handle a total of about 400 pieces loaded on 28 cars, for a total of 8 tons of ceramic mass. Fuelled by LPG, these dryers provide uniform hot air distribution via rotary cones distributed along the machines in intra-car positions.
Temperature and moisture are adjusted constantly by a latest-generation PLC. An outgoing moisture content of 0.2% was achieved in a 12-hour cycle with a working temperature of 80°C. Visit www.sacmi.com for additional information.
