To help meet the growing demand in the specialty materials segment, PPG Industries recently restarted a furnace at its Lexington, N.C., fiber glass plant. "We believe this underscores our commitment to the fiber glass industry as a whole and specialty yarn customers in particular," said Vicki Holt, vice president of fiber glass. "Our decision to bring this furnace online positions us to provide customers with value, service and an uninterrupted supply of high-quality yarns." Fiber glass yarns for specialty materials are used in a variety of applications, such as medical casts, tape, high-temperature insulators, insect screening and other building-related products.
