AGR International, Inc. has added the Optical Thickness Inspection
System, OPTIS™, to its family of glass container thickness
inspection products. The OPTIS is a non-contact thickness measurement
system designed to work in conjunction with existing rotary
inspection stations. Designed for use in glass container
manufacturing facilities, the OPTIS reportedly measures the wall
thickness of glass containers and provides information critical to
the glass container manufacturing process. According to the company,
the system's proprietary non-contact, optical measuring technique
incorporates high-intensity light beams to measure the thickness of
the container. Wall thickness up to 0.20 in. (5 mm) can easily be
measured in up to four locations over the body of a container, the
company reports.
