David Earl, Ph.D., assistant professor of ceramic engineering and materials science in the School of Engineering at Alfred University (AU), has been appointed director of the AU Center for Environmental and Energy Research (CEER). "Dr. Earl brings to the position a wealth of experience in managing, as well as conducting, research," said Alastair N. Cormack, Ph.D., interim dean of the School of Engineering. Earl has been director of quality assurance for CEER, which is a multidisciplinary research center at AU, drawing upon faculty expertise in mechanical, electrical and ceramic engineering; materials science; chemistry; economics; and environmental science. Faculty and students work with industrial sponsors, as well as state and federal sponsors, on research and educational projects to promote technology that results in environmental and energy sustainability.
