Almatis Plans Price Increase

August 6, 2004
Almatis recently announced a worldwide price increase for its specialty alumina products. For all contracts effective on or after August 1, Almatis will raise product prices by $50-$120 per metric ton, depending on the product line. "Over the past years our 11 global plants have worked hard on the reduction of manufacturing costs. However, worldwide demand growth has tightened supply of key materials such as alumina, and our energy and transportation costs have also escalated to an extent that additional cost pressures have exceeded our cost saving initiatives," said Alex de Bonth, chief operations officer.
