Baby Steps

I never thought I’d find inspiration in America’s Funniest Home Videos, but I suppose stranger things have happened. My daughter loves that TV show, though I try not to watch because I’m always so afraid that someone is going to be horribly maimed that I cringe at every clip they show.

It was on the other night, though, and I braved a peek. The clip I want to tell you about began with a little boy (maybe two or three years old) on one side of a small stream and his mother on the other. She was calling him, telling him to cross the stream and come to her. The little boy was clearly getting himself ready to jump across the stream. He kept bobbing up and down, trying to figure out how he could make it across. After a few moments, he stood straight up and just walked the few steps through the water to his mom.

I had one of those eureka moments: Sometimes what seems like a huge obstacle can actually be overcome very simply.
