Shay Harrison, Ph.D., has been named director of Operational Development for Blasch Precision Ceramics. In his new position, Harrison will be responsible for overseeing the transition of innovations from R&D to manufacturing, and making process improvements on the manufacturing floor to provide better control of materials, including particle size distribution, material density and overall product quality.
Harrison previously worked for Blasch as a research scientist from 2001 through 2005. He also had experience in research and development with Delphi Automotive Systems and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory. He earned a bachelor’s of science degree in materials science and engineering from Rice University, and was a graduate scholar at the University of Texas’ Material Science and Engineering Department. He received his doctorate in materials science from the University of Connecticut at Storrs, where he was also a post-doctoral fellow.
