EPSI: HIP Production Unit

December 15, 2003

The hot isostatic press (HIP) production unit from Engineered Pressure Systems, Inc. (EPSI) was designed to uniformly apply accurate pressure at elevated temperatures to all surfaces. The unit densifies parts to heal casting defects and voids, to bond similar or dissimilar materials, and to form net or near-net shapes from metal, ceramic, cermet and other powders. EPSI's HIP is built with inside diameters of 50 to 1500 mm, and contains pressures from vacuum to 3000 bar and temperatures as high as 4000F. The unit is available in a variety of sizes, from pilot to large production units, and features interchangeable furnaces for various temperatures and atmospheres to meet the customer's production requirements.
