The Glass Manufacturing Industry Council (GMIC) will conduct "Glass
Melting Technologies of the Future" on Feb. 22, 2001, at the
Washington Hilton and Towers in Washington, D.C. The event will seek
to identify the "next generation" of melting technologies that will
bring new energy efficiencies, reduced emissions and productivity to
the industry. Overviews of the current state of glass melting
technologies and future trends will be presented. A roundtable
discussing will aim to develop consensus on the promising directions
and the criteria for evaluating their potential. The GMIC is also
soliciting presentations from glass company representatives,
inventors, academics and others to discuss new technologies. One-page
abstracts are due by Dec. 15, 2000.
