Honeywell Sensing and Control recently introduced its 2450 series automatic reset thermostats. Due to the small size of these thermostats, and the inherently low mass of the bimetal snap-action disc, their response to temperature changes is extremely rapid compared to other commercially available thermostatic devices. The temperature-sensitive bimetal discs, which are electrically and thermally isolated from the switch, are used to actuate the normally closed contacts. Contacts are opened when surface or ambient temperatures increase to the operating snap-point of the calibrated bimetal disc. For increased sensitivity, an exposed bimetal disc may be specified.
