These new furnaces are designed for 2450°F operation and feature silicon carbide heating elements controlled off-the-line with an SCR power supply.
A new line of high-temperature box furnaces (HS Series) ideal for processing high-speed tool steels and ceramics is available from Lucifer Furnaces, Inc. The furnaces are designed for 2450°F operation and feature silicon carbide heating elements controlled off-the-line with an SCR power supply. The SCR automatically compensates for changes in element resistance and proportions the lowest power input, providing a steady state control. This control package simplifies furnace operation by eliminating the manual adjustment of tap switches and saves money on initial purchase by replacing the large power transformer, selector switches and oversized contactors.
A built-in aging factor of 200% insures excellent element life. The furnace chamber is lined with premium grades of lightweight ceramic fiber insulation, providing fast heat and quick recovery rates. The fiber insulation reduces the power demand to heat the chamber by 70%, which lowers the overall KW requirements and utility costs.
The HS Series provides outstanding performance for applications from 1500 to 2450°F. Models are designed for automatic, simple, safe and dependable operation. Standard features include heavy-gauge sheet steel construction, digital temperature controller, platinum/rhodium thermocouple, double-pivot horizontal swing door, silicon carbide hearth plate and a compact space-saving design.
HS furnaces are available as single- or dual-chamber and economy models in standard sizes from 6 x 6 x 12 in. to 12 x 18 x 24 in. All furnaces are pre-wired, assembled, test fired and shipped ready for connection to a 230-volt main power supply. Options include gas-tight construction for protective atmospheres, over-temperature protection, programmable controls and soak timers.
