I recently ran across a blog from Hartstone Pottery (
http://hartstoneusa.blogspot.com) promoting its “Trade Your China!” event this month. Sadly, I missed it, but the lucky folks who attended could bring their “made in China” pieces to Hartstone and receive a 25% discount when they traded that item for a matching Hartstone shape.
This is pure marketing genius. You get people to come to your shop. You show them the benefits of U.S.- vs. China-made ware. You give them a discount. You build life-long customer relationships. It’s absolutely brilliant!
I hope the event worked out well for Hartstone. Has anyone else tried anything similar? What results did you see?
