Mofratech Offers New Aluminum Surface Coating Process

Mofratech recently introduced its Altim TD® process for the transformation of the surface of aluminum into a hard, thick ceramic layer. Unlike many other anodizing or electrolytic coating methods, the new process is reportedly pollution free and is in full compliance with current and proposed environmental regulations worldwide. According to the company, the coating, which consists of a micro-arc oxidation process that is primarily of the alpha-alumina (corundum) phase of aluminum oxide, offers a hardness of 1,400 to 2,000 HV and wear resistance four times as great as conventional hard- anodized aluminum.
