Nanophase Announces New Core Patent Application

February 14, 2002
Nanophase Technologies Corp. recently announced that it has applied for a patent detailing additional technology to create stable dispersions of nanoparticles in aqueous solutions. "Many customer applications require aqueous dispersions of nanoparticles to be manufactured at pH values that are different from the natural pH value of the metal or metal oxide in water," stated Dr. Richard Brotzman, vice president of research and development. "However, it is difficult to manipulate the pH of these dispersions across wide pH ranges, since, under normal conditions, the dispersions are susceptible to irreversible flocculation and cannot be redispersed. This novel technology allows Nanophase to manufacture a nanoparticle dispersion and adjust the pH to match a customer's application requirement, while maintaining highly-ordered, stable dispersions."
