The NSG Group and Saint-Gobain Glass
have announced plans to construct a new float glass plant in Jacarei,
near São Paulo, Brazil. This manufacturing facility
will be the fifth float line operated by Cebrace Cristal Plano Ltda, the joint
venture between the NSG Group and Saint-Gobain Glass in Brazil. The
project will also include the installation of a magnetron line to produce
off-line coated glass.
The plant, which will have a daily
output of 900 tons of flat glass to supply Brazil's construction market, is
due to come on stream in the fourth quarter of 2011. This installation at the Jacarei site, which
already has two float lines and one laminated glass line, can increase the
site’s production by 60% and reportedly become the largest glass complex on the
American continent.
