OAI: New UV/Ozone Photo Surface Treatment Technology

December 15, 2003

Optical Associates Inc. (OAI) recently introduced an improved ultraviolet (UV)/ozone surface treatment process called UV-OZONE PLUS. The new dry surface treatment technology uses ultraviolet light and ozone to both clean and modify the molecular surface of solids, resulting in higher yields, improved adhesion and higher quality products. Low pressure UV light is used to generate a unique combination of wavelengths that both clean the surface of contaminants and modify the bond strength of the surface atomic layer. First used in production for liquid crystal displays, flat panel displays and opto-electronic products, the process has been adopted for other plastic, glass and adhesive bonding processes.
