SGCD Expo to Take Place March 28-31 in Las Vegas.
The Society of Glass and
Ceramic Decorated Products’ (SGCD) Deco ’09, to be held March 28-31 at the
Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas, offers attendees the opportunity to see new
products; learn about new and existing
technologies; gain exposure to new profit
strategies; and review and understand legislation,
including import/export and heavy metal regulations.
Attendees will network with
suppliers and fellow decorators and importers at the exposition, lunches and
receptions that make up the Deco ’09 program. Many products will be displayed
at the expo, including kilns and lehrs, colors and coatings, decals, substrates,
decorating and screen-printing services, and more.
Featured Session
SGCDpro’s panel of experts
will address questions on a number of issues-including legislation, compliance,
technical concerns, testing methods, reporting mandates, and import
regulations-at Deco ‘09’s featured session, “Ask the Experts,” chaired by SGCDpro
Legislative Liason Sandra Spence. SGCD Past-President Wayne Zitkus (recently
retired from Libbey) and Richard Jacobs (recently retired from the U.S. Food
and Drug Administration) will also participate in the panel. Spence, Zitkus and
Jacobs were all instrumental in the development of the voluntary FDA standards
still in use today.
SGCDpro President Walter
Lumley and SGCD Past-President Paul Duffer are also scheduled to join the panel.
Lumley and Duffer will discuss technical issues and test method selection.
Awards Luncheon
Attendees are invited to
attend the annual Awards Luncheon scheduled for the afternoon of Monday, March
30. “Ask the Experts” panelist Richard Jacobs will accept the Society’s
prestigious Frank S. Child award. Winners of the Design Excellence Awards from
the SGCD’s new Design Gallery will also be presented.
