Sacmi Equips Apadana Ceram Plant (04/11/06)

April 11, 2006

The Sacmi Group has played a key role in Apadana Ceram's new plant in Gazvin, Iran, as the principle supplier of cutting-edge solutions, technology and machines. Sacmi supplied eight MTC108 continuous classifying mills, seven spray driers and 27 presses. A Twin-Press line consisting of a PH2090 and a PH4600 followed by 26 vertical driers was also supplied. On the double firing section, 10 111-meter glazing lines followed by eight FMP 285/107.1 kilns were installed. For the technical granito section, nine glazing lines and five FMP 285/126 kilns were supplied, while for the glazed granito section Sacmi installed nine 120-metre glazing lines followed by six FMP 285/126 kilns. The plant's output is expected to be 90,000 square meters per day, which reportedly is 10% of the Iranian market. The output will be equally divided between double firing, glazed granito and technical granito in an indoor floor space of 200,000 square meters.

Overall, the 430,000-square-meter plant will also include departments for the preparation and grinding of raw materials and the preparation of glazes and thickened colors; there are seven polishing lines and four squaring lines, plus dust control systems and technological, screen printing and photographic departments. The project was specially designed over an 18-month period to create a state-of-the-art plant that would maximize production efficiency and make use of the latest, most advanced technology throughout the entire production process. Plant start-up is scheduled for the end of 2006.
