Sacmi Supplies Machines for New Seramikanka Plant (posted 2/29/08)

February 29, 2008

Production is under way at Seramikanka’s new tile plant, which includes machinery and equipment supplied exclusively by the Sacmi Group. The plant, located near the town of Cifteler, just a few kilometers outside the Eskisehir ceramic district in Turkey, consists of two independent production lines with an output potential of over 8 million square meters a year.

The production facility consists of a body preparation department equipped with two MTC054 mills suitable for alumina grinding bodies, two ATM 65 and 52 spray dryers, which are suitable for the production of colored bodies. The pressing department is home to two PH2590 and two PH3590 presses. Four vertical dryers from the EVA 992 series complete the department.

Sacmi has also supplied glazing lines as well as handling lines, which are equipped with automatic laser-guided vehicles. The firing section of the Seramikanka plant consists of two 134.4-m FMS2850 kilns. In addition to traditional MASTER sorting lines with automatic palletizer, four of which are currently installed at the end of the line, Sacmi has also provided a general plant supervisor that is capable of monitoring all production parameters from raw materials to pallets leaving the sorting lines. This is reportedly the first system of its kind installed in Turkey.

The plant produces floor and wall tile, as well as batches of technical and glazed porcelain tile. Seramikanka’s management has also put its faith in the Sacmi Group’s experience with regard to steel structural parts, made by Sacmi Istanbul (in its production facility based in Bursa).
