Saint-Gobain Changes Company Name to Improve Identity

Saint-Gobain Industrial Ceramics, Inc. is now known as Saint-Gobain Ceramics & Plastics, Inc. The change was made to better reflect on a worldwide basis the businesses within the company and to increase the corporation’s visibility in the marketplace. Each major worldwide business unit within the corporation will be renamed to identify with the Saint-Gobain name.

The industrial ceramics portion of Norton Co. and the former Carborundum Co. are now part of Saint-Gobain Ceramics & Plastics, Inc., Industrial Ceramics division and have been reorganized into three global units: Ceramic Systems, Energy Systems and Metallurgy Solutions (includes foundry, nonferrous, iron and steel). The corporation will continue to use “Norton” and “Carborundum” as trade names.
