Saint-Gobain Names Thomson Senior VP of HR (posted 9/16/08)

Thomson succeeds Dennis Baker, who is retiring from the company.

James Thomson has been named senior vice president of Human Resources for Saint-Gobain’s North American businesses. He succeeds Dennis Baker, who is retiring from the company. Thomson joined Saint-Gobain in 1997 as engineering manager for the company’s Crystals business in Newbury, Ohio. In 1999, he became business manager of Saint-Gobain Crystals in Washougal, Wash.

He was named general manager of Saint-Gobain Semiconductor Equipment in San Jose, Calif., in 2001, and he became general manager for Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics in Akron, Ohio, in 2002. In 2004, Thompson was named vice president of the Fluid Systems Division of Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics in Aurora, Ohio. In early 2008, he was appointed president of Saint-Gobain Crystals in Hiram, Ohio.

Thomson holds a bachelor’s of science degree in engineering and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. Thomson also earned a master’s of business administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
