Saint-Gobain to Construct Third Flat Glass Production Line in India (posted 6/25/08)

June 25, 2008

To meet the increasing demand of its Indian customers, Saint-Gobain has announced plans to build a new flat glass plant in India. This latest investment will be located in the north of India, about 65 km from Delhi. The plant will operate a large float line with a capacity of 300 KT/year, and it should come on-stream in the first quarter of 2010.

The chosen site will, in the future, enable the Group to establish a large glassmaking complex similar to that of Chennai, which includes two float lines, an automotive glass processing plant and a production unit for coated glass. The total investment for the new plant is approximately €100 million (about $155 million).
