Schott's Scheidler Retires

After a 39-year career with Schott Glas, Herwig Scheidler retired on June 30, 2003. Known as one of the fathers of Ceran(R) glass-ceramic cooktop panels for smoothtop ranges, he introduced the Ceran-Top-System(R), the concept of the system approach for smoothtop ranges. Most recently he worked with Rinnai Corp., Japan, to develop an innovative gas cooking appliance with Rinnai's new Inner Burner system integrated in Ceran glass-ceramic cooktop panels. Widely known for his technical expertise, Scheidler is the inventor or co-inventor of more than 50 patents related to system solutions for home appliances. He attended the University for Architecture and Construction in Weimar, Germany, and the Technical University in Aachen, Germany.
