In last week’s
CI CyberNews CyberPoll, we asked readers if their company has implemented a four-day work week. The majority (75%) of respondents answered
no, while 25% of respondents’ companies have implemented a short work week.
Comments included:
“Implemented 4 10-hr. days in manufacturing during energy shortage in 1970s. Still a well-liked schedule. Employees save on fuel, clothing and food, plus 3-day weekend every week.”
“Instead of layoffs, we had some people switch to 4 days to keep more diverse expertise.”
“Our plant runs 24-7. In order to implement the scheduling, many production personnel and some supervisors are on a 4-day week. Engineering and management are still a 5-day week.”
“No, but I have long dreamt of such a day coming to pass at every job I’ve ever had. Four 10 hour days? Yes, please!”
