Thermal Ceramics: New Insulating Blanket

June 11, 2002
Thermal Ceramics recently announced the development of a new product for applications requiring excellent sound absorption capabilities. Cerablanket(R) AC2 ceramic fiber blanket combines the advantages of high temperature capability and good mechanical strength over standard mineral wool or basalt insulation materials. These features enable it to be used in the most demanding acoustic applications. Cerablanket AC2 is a specially produced ceramic fiber blanket with a temperature rating of 2400F and a recommended continuous use limit of 2150F. It is available in 3 and 4 lb/cu ft densities and in thickness of 1, 1 1/2 and 2 in. Precisely engineered to have outstanding acoustic properties, its measured airflow resistivity of 10,000 to 15,000 Rayls/m is two to four times greater than conventional high temperature insulation products. Applications for Cerablanket AC2 blanket include heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) silencers, process mufflers and sound walls.
