Thermal Technology recently received an order from a company in Taiwan for a large-scale, edge-defined film-fed growth (EFG) crystal growth system. The newly designed machine will be the first in Taiwan able to produce sapphire plates up to 10 x 20 x .4 in. Installation of the custom crystal growing system is scheduled for June 2009.
“It’s significant that Thermal Technology was selected from a field of international suppliers to design and build this cutting-edge crystal growing equipment and take part in Taiwan’s continued development in advanced materials,” said Matt Mede, president and chief executive officer.
Thermal Technology designs and builds all types of popular crystal growing systems, including Czochralski, Bridgman, Stepanov, Kyropoulos, heat exchanger method (HEM), edge-defined film-fed growth (EFG) and top-seeded solution growth. The company also provides automatic diameter control (ADC) crucible technologies and hot zone design expertise.
