U.S. Gypsum Forms Partnership with ResTech-US

The Industrial Products Division of United States Gypsum Co. has formed a partnership with ResTech-US to market porous resin and die materials to the ceramic industry. U.S. Gypsum is a subsidiary of USG Corp. The partnership will focus initially on expanding the use of resin molds that are employed in manufacturing ceramic dinnerware and giftware. U.S. Gypsum is a leader in the ceramic industry with its CERAMI-CAL(R) gypsum cement, which is specially formulated to produce a dense, smooth-wearing die material used in pressing ceramic products. Resin molds are used in conjunction with hydraulic presses that form the finished product. The benefits of resin technology include enhanced definition of the finished goods, higher product yield and longer mold life.

"Resin technology has been used extensively in Europe, and is an emerging option in the U.S.," said Ray Kaligian, director of marketing for the Industrial Products Division. "This alliance offers us the opportunity to participate in leading-edge technology and gives ceramics industry customers benefits from a viable new molding option."
