The Grand Prize of the recent International Competition of the 2nd World Ceramic Biennale 2003 Korea was awarded to Sun Koo Yuh, a Korean American artist, for his work titled "Alfred Summer." Alfred Summer was submitted in the Ceramics as Expression category, and it presents African figures in the shape of a tower. It was selected from among 210 pieces that had passed the preliminary selection process. It is a large sculpture measuring 2 m and 43 cm high. The expressionist techniques employed in its creation give a strong impression to viewers. Sun Koo Yuh will receive 30 million won in cash and a scholarship of 10 million won.
