announced price increases of 5-8% for its industrial and cosmetic
talcs, effective January 1, 2001. The company sites higher costs for
energy as a primary factor, but rising costs for labor, supplies and
raw materials have combined with energy to exceed the company's
ability to maintain adequate margins through increased productivity.
