Quantachrome Instruments has introduced a new sample preparation (purge) mode for its line of ULTRAPYCNOMETER density analyzers. In addition to flow and pulse (pressurization/depressurization cycles) purge, the ULTRAPYCNOMETER now includes a vacuum purge mode, which expands applications to those materials best prepared under reduced pressure conditions (USP <699>). With a keystroke, the ULTRAPYCNOMETER will automatically configure its internal valves for vacuum purging (vacuum pump supplied separately). No mechanical changes are necessary. Evacuation rates can be selected by the operator to prevent elutriation of easily fluidized powders.
