It didn't take long for Haynes, who still works full time as a building contractor, to turn his new hobby into a profitable side venture. Haynes now owns Reedy Creek Clayworks in Reedy Creek, N.C. The shop specializes in functional handcrafted pottery, and business is booming. This year, the Hayneses will have attended more than 20 art shows and festivals by Thanksgiving. The October 22 juried art show at the Barbecue Festival in Lexington, N.C., is next on the agenda.
