MoreRHI AG recently announced it has signed a contract to acquire Premier Periclase Ltd. of Ireland for €21 million (~ $27 million). PPL is a worldwide supplier of seawater-based large crystal sinter. The company produces roughly 70,000 metric tons of sintered magnesia annually in the north of Dublin and has 110 employees.
RHI also announced it has closed the acquisition of SMA Mineral Magnesia AS, Norway. With the capacity expansion in Turkey and the acquisition of SMA and PPL, RHI reports it plans to increase its self-sufficiency in magnesia raw materials up to approximately 80% by mid-2012.
