Saint-Gobain Glass India recently signed a definitive binding agreement concerning the acquisition of Sezal Glass Ltd.’s float glass business in India. Through this deal, Saint-Gobain Glass India will acquire a new float plant located in the district of Bharuch, in Gujarat, along with its business assets. Brought on stream in February 2010, the float plant has a daily production capacity of 550 tons of flat glass to supply the architectural market.

This acquisition reportedly completes the industrial presence of Saint-Gobain Glass in India: a large manufacturing complex close to Chennai (two float plants, one magnetron line to produce coated glass, a mirror line, automotive glass processing plants, and a transformation facility for the architectural glass segment); automotive glass processing plants in Pune; and a new float under construction near Delhi, operational in early 2012.
