Saint-Gobain Provides Boron Nitride for Lubricant Application

A new additive technology incorporates Saint-Gobain's boron nitride.

The new L4 formulation of Liquid Wrench(R) provides lubricity and wear resistance superior to other penetrating lubricants largely because of its use of a new additive technology that combines polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and boron nitride, supplied by Saint-Gobain Ceramics, Boron Nitride Products. Liquid Wrench, a product of Radiator Specialty Co., penetrates residues, rust and corrosion to loosen frozen parts. With the goal of achieving market-leading performance, Radiator Specialty tested Cerflon(R), a new additive technology from Acheson Colloids that combines PTFE with boron nitride. "Saint-Gobain was picked as exclusive boron nitride supplier to Cerflon, because we knew through experience that they could meet our stringent material requirements while also offering customization capabilities that would allow us to steadily improve the product," said Andrew Hamilton, Acheson Colloids.
