Sales Success in 2010

Ceramic manufacturer Emma Bridgewater recently announced record fourth quarter sales revenue.

Emma Bridgewater Ltd., a pottery manufacturer based in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, recently posted record sales of more than $3 million for the fourth quarter of 2010. Online sales alone increased by about 50%. This improved financial performance is likely a result of the bustling Christmas shopping season, combined with a slowly recovering economy. Matthew Dobson, the company’s managing director, explained that continuing to develop loyal customers in the community has also helped to grow the firm's success. Customers certainly felt like a top priority when, despite the inclement weather around the holidays, Emma Bridgewater's staff made sure that all Christmas deliveries were made on time.

All Emma Bridgewater pottery is handmade in the Stoke-on-Trent factory. The company, which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary, was formed when its founder (the actual Emma Bridgewater) could not find a suitable cup and saucer for her mother's birthday present-so she decided to design her own. She and her husband still design each piece of pottery that is sold in the stores and online. Emma Bridgewater Ltd. also offers glass collections, textiles, stationery and a variety of other household items. For more information, visit www.emmabridgewater.co.uk.
