SEMX Receives Single Largest Initial Order

SEMX Corp. has confirmed that its Materials Group received a significant product order, valued at approximately $5 million, from an industry-leading, fiber-optic component manufacturer. The order is the single largest initial order of one specific product in SEMX's history. SEMX expects production to begin in the second quarter of 2001 after completion of product qualification. "This order validates SEMX's strategy of providing component packaging for fiber-optic, wireless and Internet infrastructure customers," said Frank J. Polese, vice chairman and president of the Materials Group. "Since the acquisition of the ceramic packaging division in May 2000, we have been moving toward high value-added assembly products, which combine multi-layer ceramic packaging technology with our proprietary thermal management materials. This allows SEMX to offer customers complete vertical integration for packaging of high-speed digital devices."
