SGL Carbon Group generated consolidated sales revenue of 284 million Euros in the third quarter of 2002, 2% above the revenue for the second quarter and 5% below the prior-year quarter. Profit from operations increased to 11 million Euros, up 56% compared with the second quarter and 82% on the prior-year quarter. Third quarter net financing costs were 7 million Euros, after 9 million Euros in the second quarter and 1 million Euros in the prior-year quarter. Profit before tax was 4 million Euros after a loss of 1 million Euros in the second quarter and a profit of 8 million Euros in the prior-year quarter. Following two quarters in which a net loss was recorded, the company returned in the third quarter to generate a profit after tax of 5 million Euros.
