Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell recently visited Shenango Advanced Ceramics and presented the company with a check for $557,000 for upgrades to its existing New Castle, Pa., facility. The money will allow Shenango to create 19 new jobs and to retain 22 existing employees. The company recently completed the rebuild of its largest cordierite kiln, built a new nitrogen atmosphere kiln and introduced a high-purity silicon carbide. In addition, major expansions of the silicon carbide production areas are underway in order to meet the growing demand for various products, improve efficiency and reduce cycle times.
