SMAHT Ceramics, Inc. recently acquired the monolithic ceramics operations of COI Ceramics Inc. (COIC). SMAHT acquired substantially all of COIC's assets at the company's Salt Lake City, Utah, division, except for its ceramic fiber operations. The asset sale was part of COIC's intent to divest its non-core small operations and focus on its core business areas. SMAHT will focus on its low thermal expansion and highly thermal shock resistant NZP ceramic technologies through both R&D and production of commercial components. In order to fulfill its ultimate charter of specializing in various physically and chemically stable systems for high-temperature applications, SMAHT plans to broaden its technological base to include advanced materials such as SiC (reinforced)-MoSi2, ZrO2 (toughened)-Al2O3, and conventional ceramics such as alumina and mullite.

SMAHT's website is located at http://www.smahtceramics.com .
