Soda Ash Demand to Post Significant Growth

Demand for soda ash both on the emerging and developed markets is demonstrating significant growth indexes, according to a new report.

Demand for soda ash both on the emerging and developed markets is demonstrating significant growth indexes, according to “Soda Ash: 2011 World Market Outlook and Forecast,” a new study from Merchant Research & Consulting Ltd. According to the report, levels are gradually moving toward pre-recession numbers.

As previously experienced, the demand for flat glass and detergents will remain the leading end-use application segments of soda ash and will perform as key market drivers in developing countries. India, China and other low-cost manufacturing markets remain the key growing bases for container glass and flat glass production, and are forecast to experience an annual growth rate of 2-3% in the glass segment.

The report also predicts that the world market of soda ash will outpace some other inorganic chemicals market increases and will exceed 45 million metric tons by 2015.
