Internet-Based Batching System
Ingredient Masters
A new batching system has been introduced that features Internet-based programming, monitoring and diagnostics capabilities. The fully automated, self-contained system is customized to the application. It uses an Allen-Bradley PLC for the input of up to 100 recurring process recipes, as well as a variety of QC functions. Weighing accuracy is ± .02 lb per ingredient on a 1000-lb recipe, and systems use three or more polyethylene dispensers, each with capacities of between 3.5 and 100 cu ft. With a footprint of just 8 x 30 ft for a five-dispenser system, it is particularly beneficial for applications where space is at a premium. In addition to the in-line dispenser configuration, the system can be set up with modular dispensers to accommodate non-recurring recipes. Call (888) 345-4729 or (513) 231-7432, or visit www.ingredientmasters.com.

Multi-Frequency Rectangular Screeners
Kroosh Technologies and Elcan Industries

A new line of multi-frequency rectangular screeners contains the same multi-frequency technology as the round Krooshers, and is designed for high-efficiency separation of dry materials, slurries and liquids. The technology is completely mechanical and contains no pneumatic or electronic devices, making it suitable for use in all environments. The units impart energy directly to the working mesh of the screener, giving it the ability to efficiently screen products to finer levels. Rectangular Krooshers are available in several different sizes, ranging from 2 x 3 ft to 4 x 10 ft, and are available in stainless and carbon steel construction. Call (800) 283-5226 or visit www.kroosh.com.

Laboratory Grinder
Retsch Inc.

This laboratory mortar grinder has been completely redesigned to improve both ease of use and functionality for diverse applications. New features include convenient setting of pestle pressure and scraper position, push fit mortar and pestle for easy exchange of grinding sets, and a digital timer and load control display to optimize the grinding process. With its increased useful volume up to 190 ml, the model RM 200 handles soft, hard, brittle and pasty samples with particle sizes of up to 8 mm. The grinding technique is a combination of pressure and friction that results in a high degree of simultaneous homogenization and intense mixing. Call (866) 473-8724 or e-mail info@retsch-us.com.

Low-Profile Sifter
Kason Corp.

A new low-profile Flo-Thru sifter features a gap-free screen frame with quick-disconnect clamps and a crevice-free interior finished to cGMP, 3-A, USDA and FDA standards, allowing rapid and thorough washdown. The low-profile configuration employs two unbalanced-weight gyratory motors mounted on opposing exterior sidewalls of the unit, which significantly reduces minimum height requirements. On-size particles pass rapidly through the screen in a vertical discharge path at higher rates than with circular screeners with centrally mounted gyratory motors and horizontal discharge paths. Oversize material can be removed manually or with a vacuum. Call (973) 467-8140, e-mail info@kason.com or visit www.kason.com.

Deck Cart
Kinetic Technologies, Inc.

This designer/manufacturer of material handling equipment and accessories has launched a new LOBOYTM ultra-low ground clearance cart that offers flexibility to complement forklift-free manufacturing or distribution logistics. The unit's large 49.5 x 49.5-in. deck area and 1500-lb load rating deliver ample capacity for large pallets and containers, while the low deck height of 4 in. allows the tallest containers to fit more easily in the proper ergo-unload range. Special wheels provide low manual push/pull forces with full loads. Visit www.KtecInc.com.

Continuous Feeders
Metalfab, Inc.

Better-Weigh® continuous feeders for gravimetric feeding of dry bulk materials are available in seven models with feed rates from 1-550 cu ft/hr (larger sizes available). The feeders are designed to provide feeding in either batch or continuous mode. In batch mode, the batch controller is used to control the fast (bulk) and slow (dribble) speeds of the feeder. Accuracies of + 0.5% can be easily achieved in 2 lb or less batches, and + 0.25% with 3 lb or greater batches with time spans of 30-90 seconds. In continuous mode, the feeder's electronic controller is used to constantly monitor loss of weight of material per time in order to maintain a continuous loss of weight with an accuracy of + 0.25-0.50%. Call (800) 764-2999, fax (973) 764-0272, e-mail sales@metalfabinc.com or visit www.metalfabinc.com.

Bulk Bag Unloader
Cyclonaire Corp.

New PortoVeyorTM bulk bag unloaders provide efficient pneumatic transfer of material from bulk bags into silos that are normally serviced by pneumatic trailers or railcars. When normal trailer and rail service is available, the skid-mounted PortoVeyor can easily be moved out of the way until needed again. PortoVeyor unloaders allow safe handling and clean unloading of any free-flowing dry bulk material shipped in bulk bags. Moveable PortoVeyor unloaders reportedly make delivering bagged product to storage silos or processing equipment almost as easy as bulk delivery. They are ruggedly built and can be customized with optional hoists and lifting frames to support and unload all sizes and styles of bulk bags without slippage or spills. Call (800) 445-0730 or (402) 362-2000, or e-mail sales@cyclonaire.com.

Drum-Filling System
Bulk Equipment Systems Technology (B.E.S.T.), Inc.

According to the company, its drum-filling system with vibratory feeder provides clean, accurately weighed end product. Equipped with a 12 x 36-in. twin-motor vibratory screener-feeder, the system is designed to deliver 2500 lbs/hr of bulk chemical material. Its 20-mesh scalping screen removes foreign products and oversized agglomerates. A permanent plate magnet in the product outlet chute prevents ferrous material from entering the drum. The drum is placed on a platform scale; accuracy on 250 lb net fill weight is ± 0.2 lbs. When the final weight is obtained, the screener-feeder automatically stops. For safety, the system also includes a retractable dust hood. Call (800) 827-9237 or (330) 273-1277, fax (330) 225-8740, e-mail sales@bestvibes.com, or visit www.bestvibes.com.

Insertion Weigh Belt Module
Thayer Scale-Hyler Industries

The SI Series insertion weigh belt module has been designed to easily fit into an existing belt or vibratory conveyor line. The SI is available in either scale over or scale under design. A short support framework and a 24-in.-long, V-guided conveyor (12, 18 and 24 in. wide) make this a practical weighing module for insertion into a transition space between existing conveyors or equipment. The SI insertion weigher uses the company's patented model 15L precision flexure plate suspension scale with FMSS technology. The scale provides for complete mass counterbalancing of the dead load of the conveyor, permitting the load sensor to react only to the net material load.
