A new spray-on refractory offers multiple benefits over traditional brick.

Magneco/Metrel, Inc.’s Metpump^TM spray-on nanoparticulate refractory line is now available for recirculating fluid bed (CFB) construction and repair. “An exclusive development of Magneco/Metrel, this is advanced refractory technology with time-tested and important new benefits,” said Charles W. Available in a variety of compositions, Metpump products consist of a pumpable, colloidal silica-bonded monolithic refractory material that offers the following advantages over traditional brick refractory:

• Ability to perform hot repairs at temperatures well over 1500ºF.

Metpump reduces CFB downtime and construction costs considerably, thanks to its pumpability and very low water content, which allows the material to dry quickly. The refractory can be pumped at rates up to 15 tons per hour.
