Stafier’s engineers have improved the design of the conventional drying pallet for bricks. The strengthening profile that keeps the drying pallet stable causes a lot of high-frequency noise. Insulating this profile removes the sounding board effect from the composite design without reducing the mechanical properties, and the vibration energy is absorbed effectively.
The construction has been tested acoustically by the Technical Centre for the Ceramic Industry (TCKI), an independent research center in The Netherlands. The noise reduction obtained in the laboratory test was 4 dBA. Since human hearing works roughly on a logarithmic scale and is more sensitive to particular frequencies, the test result indicates that the emission of sound energy perceived by the human ear was decreased by as much as 50%. Stafier has been successful in obtaining an international patent for this innovation.
